Science Week

This week, Eastmeadows Primary campus celebrated National Science Week in true scientific spirit. The week started off with every class researching a famous Scientist and preparing a project on their inventions. Many unique and colourful displays were setup by the students that showcased their individual talent and creativity.

On Monday, Foundation and Grade 1 students were given the opportunity to experience Chemistry firsthand, with Mrs Esra (the Crazy Scientist) performing many quirky experiments to show how common household items can lead to different chemical reactions.

On Tuesday, all of Eastmeadows Primary and Dallas campus was in for a treat with the ‘Silly Science’ incursion. With professional demonstrators at hand, students explored the worlds of Physics and Chemistry through many unique experiments.

For Wednesday, our teachers and students were encouraged to think ‘outside the box’ and try learning without using any pens or pencils for our official ‘No Pens Day’. This brought out the best in everyone as alternate hands-on approaches were tried. Just imagine what it would be like if pens or pencils were never invented?

The highlight of our week came on Friday, when our Grade 4 students displayed some fantastic experiments to the rest of our Primary students at our ‘Science Fair’. Students were able to observe and interact with their Grade 4 peers, while they demonstrated and explained their projects and experiments.
